Kneecap dislocations, and patellofemoral knee pain
Patellar instability is the painful and disabling condition that results from a tear of a ligament on the inside part of the knee which controls the position and movement of the kneecap as your knee bends and straightens.
Many cases of patellofemoral knee pain are treated through conservative measures that may include:
- Physical therapy
- Anti-inflammatory medication
- Ankle bracing
Severe cases that do not respond to conservative treatment methods may require surgical correction. Surgery for chronic knee pain involves repairing or reconstructing the damaged ligaments that cause symptoms. Recovery from surgery varies depending on the specific procedure that is performed.
Treatment regarding kneecap dislocations may require surgery, in which we invite you to contact our office to evaluate your options
